DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY
Brief History of the Department
History Department was established in the year 1972. Since then Mr. M.G.Jadhav had worked as Head of Department. After his retirement, Mr. B.G.Patil took charge of department. From 20th April 2001, Mr.S.R.Garud has been working as Head of Department. Thus the department is offering UG and PG course for students of Islampur and adjoining rural area. Many students have benefitted and now serving the society and contributing in national development. The department has remarkable capacity to adapt to changes and at the same time pursue the goals and objectives. It has been playing significant role in capacity building of students to cater to the needs of the society and the country as a whole. It has also been contributing to the national development by serving the causes of social justice ensuring equity. The faculty has been conducting research studies to serve the society. Mr. Sachin Garud, Head of the department, has been involving in curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. He has been playing significant role in socio-political issues which are significant from national point of view. He has well known Anti-Caste Activist and has working for social enlightenment. Mrs. M. S. Patil has been working as ANO – NCC officer for S.W. girls unit. Thus the faculty is competent and adequate.
