Brief History of the Department |
Physics is a natural science based on experiments, measurements and mathematical analysis with purpose of finding quantitative physical laws for everything from nano world of micro Cosmos to the planets, solar system and galaxies. The study of matter, energy and their interactions plays a key role in the future progress of humankind. Keeping this view founder member of Mahatma Phule Shikshan Sanstha Honorable Dr. N. D. Patil and his colleagues initiated to start graduate department from June 1987 under the supervision of former Head of Department Shri. S. S. Patil. It was hoped that this will provide students especially from rural area a sense of physics as a living, evolving discipline and of their place in its evolution.
The Department occupy Lab1 and Lab2 having dimensions 540 sq meter and 60 sq meter respectively, where practical of B.Sc. I/ II/ III are conducted. The department consists of adequate equipment’s/apparatus.
From the beginning of department 498 students passed out who are contributing in the fields of research and educational viz in BARC, Indian Navy, ISRO, TIFR etc. The alumni such as Squadran leader Chetan Gondkar (Navy), Shivaji Chavan (Scientific Assistant, TIFR), Arun Suryavanshi (Scientific Assistant, ISRO), Dipak Chormore (Airman, Indian Air force), Dr. Sharad Patil (Post Doctoral Research Fellow, EWHA woman’s university, Seoul) Dr. Archana Kamble (Post Doctoral Research Fellow, EWHA woman’s university, Seoul), Shaikh Jilani ( Medical Imaging Technologists, Govt. Medical College, Miraj), Karan Shirgaonkar (Probationary Officer, Union Bank of India), Jyoti Bhosale (CRPF) Archana Gaikwad (Muncipality Tax Officer), Pravin Babar (Muncipality Tax Officer), Rutunajay Kamble (Muncipality Tax Officer), Shital Patil, Manisha Kadam (IBPS exam), Pramod Kuchiwale(SET qualify) and Maqsood Waikar (SET qualify and submitted Ph.D. Thesis) showing their best in their respective field. As per demand of students and improved student enrollment, Mahatma Phule Shikshan Sanstha is stepping towards the new spacious and well equipped laboratories in future. |
